Ultraviolet therapy is used by dermatologists for many different skin conditions.  The most common conditions which are treated with ultraviolet therapy are psoriasis,  eczema as well as vitiligo.  Various ultraviolet spectrum’s are used but the most commonly used ones are the narrow band ultraviolet B spectrum as well as ultraviolet A.  Ultraviolet A is usually combined with psoralens which either can be taking as capsules or apply topically.  A new addition to this spectrum is the excimer lamp which uses an intense narrowband ultraviolet B on small areas that requires treatment such as small areas of psoriasis on the elbows or knees.  All the forms of ultraviolet therapy is available at the skinmatters practice to patients.
